Bio

Clio Renner is a Melbourne born pianist, vocalist and songwriter who has made her name as the go-to keyboardist and session player for a roll-call of Australian rock royalty, including Deborah Conway, Tim Rogers, Bob Evans, Alex Lahey, Killing Heidi and Angus & Julia Stone. A fixture in the house band for the much-loved music show ‘RocKwiz’, Clio also plays with the amazing ‘Countdown’ band, featuring in the ABC’s New Year’s Eve concert broadcasts at the Sydney Opera House.

In 2016, Clio was appointed Musical Director for the ‘Her Sound, Her Story’ concert, which later evolved into a “comprehensive and captivating documentary”. Her directing role continued into 2017 when she was appointed MD for The Age Music Victoria house band. Also in 2017, Clio performed in the premiere of Like Running Water, a collaboration she worked on with Melbourne’s Ella Thompson (Bamboos, GL) and Becky Sui Zhen (Sui Zhen, No Zu) in 2017. This original work, commissioned for the Melbourne Festival, explores the complex relationship between femininity and the shifting nature of water.

With the 2018 release of her first EP Something Left to Leave Behind, Clio emerged as a solo artist. The record received a 4-star rating from Forte magazine, and she was subsequently named Indie Artist of the Week by the Australian Independent Record Labels Association. Something to Leave Behind is a definitive statement from a woman growing in confidence in her own skin and an artist relishing the realization of her creative power.

Clio will continue her work as a session player in 2019, but is set to record a second EP, due for release in October.

the strings and production bring this darkness which contrasts against your voice beautifully. there's some radiohead in parts of it too. it's a real treat clio.

This carries an endearing maturity. The strings are gorgeous! So is that piano that accompanies those clear & strong vocals of yours.
