Bio

"He has a distinct strength to his voice that doesn’t come across as pushing it too hard. He hits every note magically..."
– Nic Kelly - 2Day FM / Night High Records / Project U

It was late 2017 when surf coast singer-songwriter Coast & Ocean (Alex Johnson) made waves with his ode to Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan. The catchy record broke the mold for Coasty, racking up over a quarter of a million online streams, hitting the Spotify Viral 50 charts and scoring radio play across the country including love from Triple J breakfast hosts Ben and Liam. Now, nearly two years later, he's assembled an all-star cast to help him return in a big way with another new single ‘Daiz Gone’ following the acclaim of 'White Roses."

Produced by legendary Australian producer Tim Carr from Studio 301 & One Flight Up, CV includes - Jay Z, Flea (Red Hot Chilli Peppers), Matt Corby (“Brother” — which won the Song of the Year ARIA and scored third place on Triple J’s Hottest 100), Julia Stone, Urthboy, The Herd, mastered by Joe Carra, Crystal Mastering.

'Daiz Gone' is an ode of love for a hurting world. The song merges fast melodic rap verses with a classic sing-song hook sure to get stuck in listeners' heads; "Throw away all your money... set yourself free...' It is the second release of an upcoming LP due for release when Coast & Ocean returns from a Euro tour (having just played Surfana festival) this Aus summer. AUD'$ are working on the release and upcoming rollout in a PR capacity.

A unique talent who effortlessly blends together genres, Coast & Ocean continues on with his distinct sound in Daiz Gone. The song fuses infectious melodies in a style that has seen him likened in the press to Post Malone, as well as earning a label as "the Australian Ed Sheeran" from presenters at Triple J Unearthed.
"This dude's got something. It's chill and I could see appealing to both coastal knockabouts and fans of sensitive rap."
- Dave Ruby Howe
Triple J Unearthed, Music Director

Humble, likeable and a proponent of honest, vulnerable storytelling, it's little wonder Coast & Ocean has built a strong organic following across the globe where he is constantly travelling. Both at home and abroad he can be seen regularly busking, gigging and playing festivals everywhere from St Kilda Festival to Surfana Festival in Holland, and numerous in between.

Following his debut shows in New Zealand earlier this year, Coast & Ocean is currently on tour throughout Europe, having recently played the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, appearing currently throughout the Berlin Festival of Light.

Exporting Australian music to the world he has already booked multiple shows in New Zealand for January and February 2020 and will be back home for a national tour in support of his EP/Album commencing March.

With a video also soon to drop, Daiz Gone promises to be the second single from Coast & Ocean's as yet untitled debut album due for release this coming Australian summer.

Great to hear new stuff from Coast & Ocean. His key asset is that chilled yet emotionally-precise delivery, but he goes even better on this track with the high quality production and beautiful guest vocals from Alice Hills.
