Comic Sans are something different. Danceable indie that was interesting enough to score them a spot on the Brisbane Laneway festival lineup.
Tell us about your music – how did you develop your sound?
Haha it's a long story. We all came from different high school bands, and after highschool when all those projects fell apart we formed Comic Sans. It started off very alternative - but we've all started to really implement different pop music ideas into our music, and it's slowly becoming more danceable and fun. We're all influenced by fairly different sounds - so all our new music is generally written in the jam format and then we take it from there!
What can the Laneway festival audience expect from you live show?
A wild raucous event with a couple of surprises sneakily implemented, come watch.
Who are you most looking forward to seeing at Laneway Festival?
I'm going to have to say The XX. Their new album is something our whole band can really appreciate, a completely unique and interesting approach to making music.. And those cheeky Last Dinosaurs.
What’s coming up in the future?
We've got new recordings to release early next year, recorded with the magical wizard (Scott Horscroft). And we'll be touring throughout the first half of the year, hopefully playing some more house parties like johann's i oh you one (mad dog).
Australian music is?
Going pretty well at the moment, we speak specifically with in depth knowledge of the brisbane scene. All of our friends bands keep killing it and it really pushes everyone else forward and makes everyone strive to reach new levels. Bad boys such as Last Dinosaurs, The Cairos and DZ. I think another scene to bring attention to is Ballarat. Those Neon Love and Howl boys know how to make music and chill hard. Real cool dudes.View Profile Hide Interview
