Bio

Hardwired in Melbourne, Cool Explosions venture out from a pulsing landscape of underground electronica, RnB reboots & late night soul jams with a grinding, uncompromising new Ultra-pop. Fronted by the electrifying new vocalist Elle Young, Cool Explosions are a brand new 3-piece featuring Matty Vehl (keyboardist with Bombay Royale) on synths, and the cartwheeling jazz-fire drum works of newcomer Alex Roper.

Beginning as a studio project, the self-proclaimed pop aesthetes developed quickly into a formidable live experience. The three members each lend vocals and manipulate a phalanx of synths, drum machines, percussion and live drums. The show is a culmination of feathering lyricism and improvised electronica aimed squarely at the dance floor.

With a sound that plunges headlong into the frontiers of electronic pop futurism, Cool Explosions explore woozy RnB excursions that nod to a golden age of 80’s cold wave and driving proto-techno head jams. Sample-driven soul swoons with rushes of autobahn arcadia & swirling synth anaesthetics.

You've got all the right influences to make me immediately interested and then you've backed it up with a perfectly balanced track.

Moody electronica with a touch of sexy & soulful vocals. Lyrics are super catchy too. Mmm...

There's a thick crust of curveball electronics atop this glorious soul sound.
