Hailing from Mackay is the captivating singer/songwriter Courtney Young! Although young (20) Courtney has been singing and writing since the tender age of 8. Courtney went on to capture her musical and lyrical creativity on her self-released debut LP, 'Stranger' in 2008. Since the release, she has been steadily gathering a song catalogue that has increasingly impressed her audience. Courtney is often described as having the vocal timbre of Sarah Blasko and Julia Stone, the song writing nous of Lucinda Williams with a pinch of Lily Allen thrown in for good measure. Throughout her short but prosperous career Courtney has already been crowned winner of the Wintermoon and Palm Creek Song Writers Awards in 2007 - 2009. Undoubtedly one of the highlights of Courtney's career so far was being named a finalist in the prestigious 2008 Q Song Awards for her ear-catching tune 'Poor Boy'.
