'(Damn Boy) That Ain't Funky' formed over a period of time, 2007 onwards, beginning with a separate project, Equilibrium, of which Jordan, Earl and Gus are members. On hearing of the Rock Studies program at Taroona High School, these three forces with drummer Sandro and vocalist Sophie was invited into the fold. Over a year after their formation, the band finally began playing music in 2009, beginning with a range of covers, from Kylie Minogue to Led Zeppelin. They have now delved deep into the band's collective creativity to produce several originals. Other influences include: Sly and the Family Stone, Dinosaur Jnr, Smashing Pumpkins, The Clash, the Sex Pistols, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, the Wailing Wailers, B.B. King, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, Dream Theater, Metallica, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Muddy Waters.
