Danni Carr and her band are a formidable talent in the new wave of vibrant roots music crossing into a dangerous, dirty, ambient and exciting side of this genre. Their debut album “47 Miles” takes you on a journey from the gutsy Knock Your Head, to the scenic wistful landscape of Old Man and the rhythmic swagger of Teach Him Right, 47 Miles is a stunning debut album. Danni is no stranger to recording, or indeed the live circuit. As founding member of the much-loved outfit, Sweet Painted Ladies, she has recorded several albums and toured Australia and the USA. Through her recordings and live performances, Danni has carved a reputation as a dynamic and accomplished artist. She plays a mean harmonica, wild guitar and has a voice that takes you to the intended places of her songs. A keen “jammer”, it is not un-common at one of Danni’s gigs to see her share the stage with some of the best talent in the country, including Ash Grunwald, Mia Dyson, Chris Wilson, Jeff Lang, Kerry Simpson, Josh Owen and Rob Sawer. With both Danni Carr and Sweet Painted Ladies Danni has toured and supported acts such Ash Grunwald, Xavier Rudd, Mick Hart, Sally Dastey and played on many festival stages such as Port Fairy Folk Festival, Apollo Bay Music Festival, Bruthen Blues Festival, Maldon Folk Festival and several other headline shows and smaller festivals. As a full band or as a two piece Danni Carr will get your foot tapping and your head knocking with these gutsy grooves. 47 Miles is the result of Danni’s successful collaboration with Michael Tricarico, which allows her to explore her love of a more bluesy and swampy sound. Danni’s debut solo EP Preview marked a turning point in Danni’s career, that has continued to evolve into what is now 47 Miles. It is a further development of roots based acoustic tunes driven along by a strong rhythm section, featuring her trademark catchy song writing and warm deep vocals.
