Bio

‘Only Child’ is the lead track from Dead Owls new EP 'Small Talk'. Recorded by Dave Parkin (Jebediah, Drapht) at Blackbird Studios, the track takes a fresh approach to guitar based indie rock and channels the likes of Arcade Fire at their emotive best. A marching band rhythm section combines with repetitive vocal hooks to build over two and a half minutes, before reaching an exceptional climax that marks a new songwriting high from the Perth duo. The 'Small Talk' EP will be released nationally on iTunes via Gun Fever (Green Media) on Friday March 22nd. Booking Contact: Greg Sanders greg@gunfever.com.au

A nice crunching tune. That central guitar riff comes straight from the 90s school of alt rock. Can hear these guys playing with someone like Emperors - that'd be a show.

Saw these boys for their Small Talk EP Launch at The Bird on Saturday night, and Only Child went off. Not only are these boys technically great artists they are an uplifting presence on stage. Congrats on the release boys.

It takes an unassuming minute to arrive but when those sky-high riffs kick in it's something seriously killer. Well structured tune with a bonus point for the uncompromisingly Australian accent.
