Bio

Doctor Goddard is a Rock n Roll band from Sydney that will make you feel like you are flying high over the Australian desert planes with a choir of cosmic guitars and a pair of brown-tinted aviators on...

Formed in the Blue Mountains with brothers Mikael (Vocals/Guitar) and Nicholas Sandström (Drums/Vocals), the band - with Phil Shingles (Lead Guitar) and Shane Vancuylenberg (Bass) - can now be found in an inner-western warehouse, writing raw honest soulful-rock songs bleeding with the sounds of the late 70s.

The band received critical acclaim and national radio air-play for their debut EP and single “Without Love”, and on the back of its release, the band toured with the likes of Stonefield, Harts, The Preatures, Flying Colours, Sticky Fingers, I Know Leopard and Kingswood.

Previously a trio laden with guitar effects and psychedelic madness, now a four-piece with the departure of Chris Seaman (bass) back to his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, the Sandström brothers were joined by Phil Shingles (Shearin’) on lead guitar and Shane Vancuylenberg on bass and production. Shingles and Vancuylenberg have brought a raw-rock and country flair into the band to produce an even wilder sound.

Taking cues from bands such as Neil Young, The Black Keys, Cass McCoombs, Michael Kiwanuka, The Doors, and Creedence Clearwater Revival, the band makes modern music through a vintage lens.

Their new release “Canyonero” is a road-trip song about a breakup, recorded by the Sandström brothers and mixed by Jack Moffitt (The Preatures). Tour plans have been put on hold due to the coronavirus, however, there are plans for more music releases in 2020.

Between Dr Goddard and Dr Spaceman, it's been a realllllll good year for medicinal pop in NSW. This is yet another winner.
