Bio

After a chance re-meeting in a Country session, Primary School buds Angus, Jordy and Nik manoeuvred their love for blues, lemonade, and of course, music into the happy/sad surf-rock trio Don’t Bring Stacey. Formed in May 2019, the boys dropped their first single ‘Everybody Knows’ only a few months later.

In the year that followed DBS branched away from their humble Gawler beginnings. Making a name for themselves in the Adelaide circuit with their unapologetically catchy tunes and sweaty live show. While also winning themselves air play in late 2019 with follow-up single ‘Changed my Hair’ it was certainly an exciting year for the boys.

2020 sees Don’t Bring Stacey return with ‘Might Not Make It Home’. Sticking to their surf-pop roots while also exploring darker territory, this is Don’t Bring Stacey at their most self-reflective and confessional yet. Merely a taste of what is to come.

It happened like this:
So I was like “Hey Jordy we should start a band!?!?” And he was like ummm sure but bass? Then we asked Nik if he played bass and he was like “dooooooooooooooood I TOTALLY play bass”

Fast track about 6 days later, Nik comes over, we jam and it is AMAZINGG. Then we stopped for some lettuce cos y’know gotta eat your greens.
5 seconds later we wrote this song called Everybody Knows, yeah the one up the top there hehehe. Jordy’s dad came in and was all like BOYS THAT SLAPS SO HARD (he may or may not have actually said this). And so we were like HECK this MUST slap pretty hard, then we recorded it. The End.
…………..
OR SO WE THOUGHTTT!!!!!!
Dropped the tune and all our mates were like Welcome to SLAP city, population you. The boys are celebrating meanwhile I’m just chilling with a glass of semi-warm OJ going “How the hell do we follow up this?” (See: having a mental breakdown). Anyway one day we were jamming a new tune called ‘Changed My Hair’. Jordy’s Dad came in and was all like FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CAN YOU BOYS PLEASE TURN THAT S**T DOWN……so this time we knew we were onto a winner!
.......
Then we got all sad and stuff, so we wrote a song about it. It's called Might Not Make It Home and uhhhh yeah it's pretty sad and stuff. But uh hey the zinger box is always spicier at the other KFC so chin up champ!

We hope you enjoy our tunes as much as we enjoyed making them,

DBS xxxx

the vocals in the chorus reminded me a lot of Nothing But Thieves! super powerful, explosive (yet ever-polished) stuff here.

Another great new track from these young legends! Full of heart, let go and real good indie rock. I'm throwing myself around and singing back every word.
