Bio

In the humble North-East 'burbs of Melbourne songstress Douzey (rhymes with bluesy and cruisey) has been writing away her days, with her nose in books and her head in the clouds. She is now gearing up to release her first single.

Cheerleader turned songwriter/singer, Douzey entwines the personal with the classical, tying together her love of ancient tales and stories with her own quirky perspectives of the uncanny. She draws inspirations from Nai Palm, Lily Allen, Jain, Lisa Mitchell, Thelma Plum, Grimes and Janelle Monae (to name a few).
Literature buffs will be chuffed to find the classic Shakespeare tale reimagined into the feminine perspective that is OPHELIA.
Already, she has received accolades even before the release date of her debut single which won the song competition with Gold Coast Vs Drew Kruck Podcast!

She is no stranger to the live music scene. In 2017, she won the FreeZA Push Start Battle of the Bands in 2 regions; as Douzey in the Eastern Regional division and as the lead vocalist of five piece alternative hip hop collective Metadada which won the Northern Metro division.
Over the last few years, has been mentored through music programs run by FreeZA and the PUSH in Melbourne such as the Dig Deep program run by one of Australia’s most popular rappers Mantra and has seen the likes of Aussie artists such as Kaiit, Fresh Violet and Mythic walk through their doors. Additionally, she has been a member of Jets Studios, located in Bundoora, where she has grown as an artist within the industry with guidance from mentors such as Echo Drama’s Neale Lawrence and Slowly Slowly’s frontman Ben Stewart.

Keep an eye out for this groovy-haired-songstress, she is definitely an artist to watch!

This is a really unique track, never really heard anything quite like it before. Great mix of visual lyrics, catchy melodies and western country influences, of which Gen was right, they do sound like they'd perfectly soundtrack a classic wild west film!

Doubling down on Gen's spaghetti western references, this is the sound of guns at dawn between dueling love interests.
