About
Doxa is a Brisbane indie-rock band, formed by a group of UQ undergraduates in 2015. The band’s nucleus is a marriage of the songwriting of Darcy Burgin and the guitar work of Andrew Clark. Their debut album, Songs About Loving & Falling, is the culmination of some five years’ gigging and writing, and it is due for release in January 2020. The band was initially intended as a vehicle for Darcy’s songs, which were marked by an insistence on sincerity, emotional trouble, and wonder. The songs were simple, though harmonically layered and rhythmically unusual, and Darcy’s distinctively Australian voice traced plain and subtle melodies in their chords. The first incarnation of Doxa emanated a garage-folk sort of sound, with elements of punk. All founding members met while studying humanities at the University of Queensland.
