Bio

At a time when the Aussie Hip hop scene is rapidly growing and most states around the country each have their own iconic MC's, the question on everyone’s mind is who's going to be next to take this genre by storm?... Intellectual rhymes, mixed pace flows, attitude, electrifying live shows and a style that’s still raw Aussie but DIFFERENT look no further then Darwin NT's own DT3!

DT3 formed in September 2009 after taking part in a youth workshop which used hip hop as a focus

to get kids off the street and in the studio. During this they made a track called "Friday" which quickly went viral amongst their peers and the positive responses saw MC's Nate, Devine and Big-Z form the group. Taking recording and editing techniques away from the workshop the childhood friends went on to release three mix tapes ('Break n Enter' 2010, 'Sky High'2011 and 'Untitled'2012). With performances on high demand DT3 added friend/DJ 'DJ Rfaktr' to the group to take their live shows to the next level. Despite their success MC Big-Z departed the group mid 2012 due to personal reasons. Although this was hard on the group it left them hungrier and striving to come back better than ever.

With their fast pass flows, catchy choruses and beats you can bump your head to DT3 deliver lyrics that paint a picture of Darwin lifestyle as they portray it based on each of their upbringing. After the success of their second mix tape 'Sky High' which saw three tracks hold No.1 on the Triple J Unearthered Hip-Hop Countdown for 8 weeks combined, the groups popularity earned them a spot at Darwin' premier event 'Bass in the grass' supporting some of Australia's biggest music acts from every genre. With the reputation they have built with their great music and live shows DT3 has supported a number of national and international acts from hip-hop legends Ice Cube, The Outlawz and Xzibit to Scribe and Australia's own ILLY just to name a few.

Following all their success and high profile shows you would think this would be the main reason behind their large following in the Northern Territory? Well it’s not, DT3's passion for music has seen them run song writing and recording workshops around town and even in remote indigenous communities. They have also supported events such as world Aids Day, Suicide rallies and mental health week using their music and influence to raise awareness for these common problems. Along with this

DT3 are ambassadors for the Balnu Suicide Foundation and have been featured as spokesperson for RADD (Recording Artist,Athletes and Actors Against Drink Driving).

Despite a long list of accomplishments in just a short 3 year career this is only the beginning for the Darwin rap sensations. After single handily dominating the NT Hip hop scene the past couple of years the group intends to take the country by storm with their first commercially released CD set for release April 2013. The CD will be a 6 track self-titled EP which the group believes will turn the heads of everyone in the Oz hip hop scene and solidify them as household names nationwide.

"DT3 are undoubtably the present and future of NT Hip Hop"

Big vibes on this one - it's a tune that doesn't back down and you can hear the energy these guys are putting into their work.
