Based around the work of Melbourne singer/songwriter Marisa Brown, Duckdive had humble beginnings as an acoustic duo back in 2003. Over the years, Duckdive solidified into an 8-piece band featuring guitars, violin, trumpet, banjo, harmonica, beautiful harmonies and string arrangements. They’re an odd mix of musicans, yet somehow they’ve managed to fuse their folk/acoustic/rock/classical/comedy/techno/country backgrounds to create a distinctive, original sound. Sorta folk, sorta pop, sorta rock, sometimes sweet and sometimes sad, but always different. Despite their career being punctuated with several breaks (while Marisa cavorted overseas, recording in London, playing gigs in Edinburgh and Thailand, and winning fans in New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, Canada and America), Duckdive’s musical exploits have been pretty impressive.
