Raw and edgey sounds from two young men from Brisbane with a finely tuned rock 'n roll ethos.
Tell us about your music – how did you develop your sound?
One night after the pub Shane and I decided to make a band specifically for playing house parties. We made a list of bands and songs we like to hear at parties and then we went into our jam room and tried to play them all at once. If we write a song which we think people wouldn’t party to then we generally scrap it, with the exception of The Mess Up (we need a slower song in the middle of our set because I’m unfit).
How long have you been around for?
We began writing for the band around the start of February last year straight after our last band had broken up. We spent about 3 months just writing until we played our first couple of house parties and then decided to sell out some time around August and began playing our first proper paid shows.
We’ve got to ask – DeeZee? Why not DeeZed?
Well… it kind of started as joke to make us sound like a hip hop group or something. We also pronounce it both ways just to add to the confusion. It doesn’t really matter we don’t care which ever way people choose to say it.
You’ve got a lot of great gigs lined up… tell us more…
We’ve got a great agent… Its been amazing some of the shows she’s helped us get on. We’ve already played with some of our favourite bands in the world and are about to play with even more of them. It’s a little weird spending weekends out partying and playing with these amazing bands in different cities and then going back to work the next day sitting around in a cubicle thinking if it all actually happened.
Australian music is?
a) ..not appreciated enough in Australia. b) The Drones, Jimmy Barnes and John-Mother-Fucking-Farnham! (+ 1682.6 other amazing bands/artists..)

im really liking the sound of DZ - it has such a great raw, edgy, early Death From Above sound to it Plus the film clip for Mess Up is tops! Proof that sometimes all you need is a bottle of spirits and a strobe light Im keeping my eyes on these two
