Bio

Started as a collaboration between childhood friends from Wagga Wagga, Eastbound Buzz’s brand of Americana-tinged alt-rock simultaneously evokes their country roots and their urban present. The band’s sound occupies the musical territory between the heartland rock of 1970’s Springsteen and Petty, and the gritty blues-rock tendencies of the early 2000’s post-punk revival.

Frontman Jarryn Phegan’s lyrically evocative songwriting is elevated by the band’s lively, anthemic instrumental arrangements and atmospheric sonic palette. 2018 saw the band tour NSW and Victoria in support of their bouncy debut single ‘Do It Right’, described by Happy Mag as “a feel-good banger for the dancefloor, the solo walk home, or the crowded road trip singalong”. This was followed on by the November release of ‘Bluestar’, a nostalgia-laden rocker that garnered praise for its deft lyricism and atmospheric production.

The Melbourne-based four-piece are gearing up for a big 2019, with their debut EP slated for release in the coming months. Recorded at the Aviary Studios in Melbourne, the EP’s five tracks showcase the emotional and sonic range of the band’s output, from anthemic rockers to sombre slow-burners.

I think this is a spectacular alt-country, road trip, tear-jerker. The vocals are the right balance of smooth and smokey and the band is epic. Reminds me of Big Smoke

So enjoyable and there's a nice homely, familiarity to that voice. A bit of country in the sound, totally.

Quite like this jaundiced alt-country track. It's all about that smoulder.
