Bio

Eden Mulholland’s take on the pop music of the future comes complete with strange voices, ripped apart rhythms, momentary flashes from ethereal orchestras, and all with a complete disregard for genre boundaries. It may well be that Eden’s less conventional path in music -‐ he formerly was a contemporary dancer -‐ has helped shape his experimental approach to composition.

You’ll find Eden these days travelling extensively to and from NZ and Australia working on new commissions and projects. Eden released his debut solo album “Feed the Beast” in 2013 to critical acclaim in Australasia with a flurry of 5 star reviews. Eden and his band have been turning heads with high profile performances at CMJ, BIGSOUND, Bleach and Teneriffe Festivals. He also heads popular Auckland band Motocade who have been champions of the indie scene since 2009.

Eden made in-roads in the USA with his special release EP of seven singles gaining significant airplay on college radio stations. More recently he has recorded his second album HUNTED HAUNTED in NYC and LA co-produced by Victor Van Vugt (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds/ PJ Harvey), Neil Baldock (Neil Finn) & Eden. The album will be released in September 2015.

Some praise for FEED THE BEAST

“…one of the most brilliantly eclectic indie pop albums of the year.” (5 stars in The NZ Herald review)

"...subverts pop expectation...electronic programming, and mixing peat poetry with rhythmic loop trickery and melody, this album creates a world of sound and structure from Mulholland’s creative beast."
(4 Stars in The Age review AUS)

“… An experimental, multilayered aural masterpiece that defies genre.” (Music.net.nz review)

His music has been variously described as “expansive and epic”, “haunting” and “fantastical”, and his style has been compared to Brian Eno, Cloud Control, Foster the People and Atlas Genius.

Super catchy. Got that strut bass, infectious hook and the politeness of pop. What a winner.

Oh man Eden is fantastic! Such a feel good, makes-you-wanna-dance crackin' tune! He also kills it live, such a great artist and such great tunes!
