Elk Mountain is a the songwriting alter ego of Gold Coast based guitarist and composer Ben Love.
Written between Brisbane and Byron Bay, the debut EP “The Daylight In Between” is Love's debut offering featuring, in its first installment, vocalist Georgie Robins. Across 5 tracks, the EP traverses genres and recalls shades of Bat For Lashes, Radiohead, My Brightest Diamond and Blonde Redhead.
The debut single "Cup Of Tea" is an infectious warning against stagnation, perfectly aided by Robins' distinctive pace and heartfelt vocal delivery. Lyrics "Time is slipping away.." float atop a maze of reverb-drenched guitars, all wrapping over the track's focused rhythm, performed by Jazz virtuoso Joe Marchisella.
"Cup Of Tea" is the feature track off "The Daylight In Between", a fitting introduction to a commanding debut. Co-produced by Jono Steer (Ainslie Wills, Ben Abraham, Haarlo) and recorded at Studio 301 Byron Bay and Sing Sing South, Melbourne.
