Bio

ELKI makes subversive, melodic pop with a strong command of storytelling and playful melodies underpinned by a shimmering darkness. Counting Kate Bush, Stevie Wonder, and Burt Bacharach as her most important influences, ELKI has been fine-tuning her craft by writing and recording numerous demos using an antiquated Mac and a serious case of OCD. Realising she would just continue to re-record each tune over and over again, ELKI decided it would be a good idea to find a like-minded producer to assist. After receiving enthusiastic responses from some international heavyweight producers she decided on Meg Mac producer, Joel Quartermain.

With four singles now released, ELKI has already been feted by the likes of Stereogum, Pop Justice & Indie Shuffle. Her first single, Sirens, received BBC Radio 1 play, Triple J play, and stellar reviews from the US and UK. Thunder (single #2) was added to FBi rotation and Triple J, Golden Age (single #3) garnered full rotation on Triple J, and her most recent tune, Beautiful Mess, has also just been added to Triple J.

After a recent national tour with Bec Sandridge, Bigsound on the horizon, and in celebration of her latest release Beautiful Mess, ELKI is very happy to announce her debut headline show:

Sat Aug 5th

“ELKI makes some seriously powerful indie pop tunes. She commands a wonderfully textured voice and dangerously catchy pop sensibilities that belie evocative, piercing lyrics and combines all those elements with eclectic sounds that magnify their potency.” – Stereogum

Love this. Wanted to suss out what you've been up to after Golden Age and this is a stellar next track. The song is anything but a beautiful mess - perfectly constructed and effortlessly excellent. Great work!

This is sounding really great on the radio at the moment. Strong alt-pop that reminds me of Kimbra/Washington/Montaigne - conquering and kickass!
