Bio

“Dangerously catchy pop sensibilities” - Stereogum

“ Every music blogger ever has said an artist is someone to keep an eye on, and how I find that annoying, but keep them damn peepers peeled on ELKI. She's really fucking good and has a commercially accessible sound that is going to take her places” - Indie Shuffle

If you love Aurora and Sigrid, you’ll love ELKI.

After working in a mental health institution throughout 2020, ELKI decided to write a song that confronts compulsions and jump-starts action. After penning the song, ELKI teamed up with world-renowned producer Konstantin Kersting (Tones and I, Mallrat). She had previously recorded a tune with Konstantin which had been shortlisted in the Eurovision decides competition. Coronavirus halted plans, so ELKI gave her tune to Dami Im to use as a lead single, and worked with her on it during 2020.

With only her debut EP released, ELKI has already been feted by the likes of Stereogum, Pop Justice and Indie Shuffle. Singles off her EP have received BBC Radio 1 play, triple j play, and stellar reviews from the US and UK. Her single 'Movie' was even praised by acclaimed lyricist Sir Tim Rice. In conjunction with her EP release in 2019, ELKI did a tour of sold-out shows along the East Coast of Australia, playing to her growing and passionate fan base. Songs off her EP have also recently received synchs on tv and film, and another was a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition. ELKI has toured with Bec Sandridge and has performed shows and festivals with acts such as I know Leopard, Ngaiire and Thelma Plum. ELKI’s long term plan when life opens up again is to tour in Sweden/Norway and do writing sessions in Stockholm.

I've played this song a lot lately - on the radio, in the car, in my head. I mostly came here to say that I second what Lucy said - "that UH at 2:17 is *chef kiss*. Such a well constructed song and just catchy as hell

I'm getting some Regina Spektor vibes on this! Those plucky strings are so perfect in the mix ELKI, you've created an anthem that will no doubt inspire your listeners to get up out of bed. That lyric "don't spend your life waiting at a red light because you want to get it right" is so damn relatable too, I'm gonna remember this.

That 'UH' at 2:17, yes. ELKI is commanding this ship and I'm happy to ride the wave.
