Bio

With powerful vocals and fierce guitar playing, Melbourne's Emilee South hollers rhythm & blues, with hints of voodoo, unrequited love, late-nights and fevers.

Emilee's new record 'MOTEL' is filled with throwback rock'n'roll & crooning soul.
The heaving, beaten up body of the record was tracked live to tape over two days at The Aviary Recording Studio. Engineered by Fraser Montgomery, it features Matt Dixon on baritone guitar, Ben Franz on double bass, and Joshua Barber on drums.
Producing a sound much darker, a little dirtier and a lot more rock’n’roll than her debut.
With a slew of special guest vocalists, such as Al Parkinson, Broads and Skyscraper Stan, ‘MOTEL’ lays comfortably on a bed of velvet backing vocals.

Following the release of the feverish first single, ‘Howl’ Emilee South & Band prepare to release the scorching soul-heartbreaker, ‘Old Flame’, on Tuesday April 11.

‘MOTEL’ will be released with a bang through Fever Shake Records, and launched at The Gasometer on Saturday the 13th of May, with very special guests.

What a heartbreaker. Classic 60's soul done very well.

Emilee sounds like a fiery southern bell with a voice full sweet soulful charm. She cuts through the rumble of the instruments and timbre of the male harmonies and transports you to another time and place. Bravo!
