Emma Knights is a graduate of the Elder Conservatorium (classical performance) and the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (contemporary music). She is a full-time freelancing musician working as a pianist, musical director, composer, songwriter, orchestral/band musician and repetiteur/accompanist. She has toured professionally with Opera Queensland and internationally with Vintage Vendetta and her own shows. In 2017, she was an invited accompanist for the International Congress of Vocal Teachers in Sweden.
Emma has run heaps of music-based events around South Australia featuring local musicians including Sconefest!, Lose Yourself (a concert in a maze) and more. Emma was a 2019 InDaily 40 Under 40 Award winner for her work in music-based tourism.
In 2018, she premiered her own one-woman show The Piano Men in the Edinburgh Fringe. The show received 4.5- and 5-star reviews in Adelaide Fringe in 2019 with sold out performances and has been performed in Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and in the Pianodrome in Edinburgh Fringe. She debuted The Piano Women in Edinburgh Fringe in 2019 which was reviewed in the International Piano Magazine. Both shows feature original songs which led to Emma opening for Lenka’s 2020 Adelaide show of her national tour. Emma’s debut album is to be released in September 2020 with assistance from the Music Development Office of South Australia. Emma is also currently completing her Honours in Bachelor of Music (Popular Music) at the Elder Conservatorium (Sia Furler Institute).
