hip hop, Soul, life

Packing a dynamite live show, these boys demand your attention. By way of hypnotic grooves and fiercely delivered rhymes, EMR as they are known collectively, are building a reputation as one of the most electrifying Hip Hop acts to come out of Brisbane. Painting lyrical portraits of their immediate surroundings, Chong iLL, Danny Esco and Paul Lee pull no punches when skilfully rhyming over Masa’s soul laced instrumentals. All coming from different cultural backgrounds from Brisbane’s Southside, mutual friends and a mutual love of music and Hip Hop brought the crew together. Through seamless flows and cleverly constructed lyrics, EMR strive to challenge your perceptions and shatter your stereotypes. Hard hitting and unapologetic, EMR have been crafting underground hits for their fans for years. Now with the release of their debut album ‘Elevate’ looming on the horizon, featuring ‘Beat magazine’s Single of the week’ with ‘Keep It Raw’, EMR are finally ready to take their message to the masses. With DJ/producer/engineer extraordinaire DJ Returnagain behind the boards, EMR spent roughly 12 months recording alongside the likes of local legend Fred Leone aka RivalMC (Impossible Odds), Gamarang aka Mister Birdz (Culture Connect), Bunda Boy and Amy Melendez (Azukaa Band). Playing energetic live shows from Brisbane to Melbourne, EMR employ a creative quality reminiscent of Hip Hop’s golden age. Veterans of the ‘Stylin Up’ festivals, they’ve shared the stage with hip hop notables such as Impossible Odds, Indigenous Intrudaz, The Last Kinection as well as Jessica Mauboy, Zenith and countless talented local musicians. Spreading their word of one love and unity, slick vocals and infectious beats guarantee a night full of head nodding and hand waving goodness EMR’s debut album ‘Elevate’ was released in September 2012 through Impossible Odds Records.
