Bio

The Escapades are a young contemporary rock band from the Dandenongs Region of Melbourne, Victoria, formed in 2008 by Sam Shineberg (bass/keyboards/vocals), Nick Somervaille(rhythm guitar/vocals), Danny Watson (lead guitar) and Josh Bennett (drums/percussion). We compose our own songs and perform covers too, and our first self-produced/self-released album "The Escapades" was released on March 7, 2010 to good public reception. In 2011, we have begun recording a professional EP, titled "Do Not Expose To Water Or Moisture: Risk of Electric Shock" with Michael Flynn and Andrejs Jaudzems at Upwey Studios, and the first complete song from those sessions, One Less Nightmare, can be found on this page. We all compose material, and our main goal is to write rock songs with a strong melodic sense, which can still be danceable. Our songwriting influences include such figures as Lennon/McCartney, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Julian Casablancas, Alex Turner etc, but our sound could be compared to the faster, layered guitar rock of Arctic Monkeys, Led Zeppelin, The Strokes, The Libertines and other back-to-basics, melodic rock and roll groups. Our music is rather pop inspired, so our sound could be described as a fusion of indie rock and catchy, pop sensibilities. We attempt to make our lyrics as intelligent and meaningful as possible, with social commentaries and wry observations on popular culture. Enjoy our page, and please drop us a line or a comment. We will be adding more new songs very shortly. Thankyou! :) The Escapades
