Bio

Plug and Play. Formed in 2009, The Essentials are indie garagey rock band hailing from Melbourne, Australia.

Influenced by the musical sounds coming from their surrounding Melbourne scene, their sound can also be likened to bands such as British India, Arctic Monkeys, Luke Warm Chili Peppers, Nirvana and The Smiths.

An open stage is where the band feels most at home. Known for their energetic performances and violent onstage jams, shows have been played at venues such as St Kilda’s Espy, Chinatown’s Ding Dong Lounge and Melbourne’s inner city HiFi Bar.

The Essentials will release their ‘self titled’ debut EP this March on independent label Pasttime Records. Recorded live in a in Black Rock, the EP has been described as a ‘milkshake of Indie, Rock, Psychedelia and Pop’.

It is the band’s first full collection of songs since the release of two singles ‘Who Cares’ and ‘Summer Of Decay’ in 2013.

The EP will be supported by shows throughout the course of the year. I like roosters.
