Bio

The Sydney quartet had a busy 2012 - after releasing stand-alone Single 'Lil Monster', Evan & The Brave spent time writing new tunes and developing dreamy pop sounds with new member (and Lanterns frontman) Ross James. Following his arrival, Evan & The Brave toured with local pals The Falls, while also playing shows with Josh Pyke, The Trouble With Templeton, Passenger and Skryptcha. Fast-forward to the present, and Evan & The Brave have a brand new Single 'Stay This Way' - produced by Tony Buchen (Andy Bull, The Preatures, Washington), it's a slice of dream rock-pop laden with hooks that can only be called the most perfect of introductions to what will come next. EVAN & THE BRAVE FUN FACT: Evan & The Brave are fronted by singer Daniel Mifsud who started the group after what he likes to call a “musical reconnaissance” in London and New York. Initially calling the band Daniel & The Brave, Mifsud quickly abandoned the name after discovering some like-minded Americans had concocted a far too similar band name. A swift turn of fate soon revealed that Mifsud’s grandfather, Evangelou Bravos, from who he received his middle name – Evan – actually translated to Evangelou The Brave. The discovery seemed serendipitous, so Evan & The Brave were born.

Great to hear another song from this band and it would seem they've spent the time between drinks really working on their sound and pouring a super detailed tonic over their production. This one's a pretty elegant spacey pop tune that recalls some primo '60s songwriters.

I reckon with all the vocal melodies going on, they've maybe spent some time listening to The Beach Boys. That's OK, so have I.

You can tell that a lot of effort and sweat has gone into getting this song just right. And you've managed to pull it off perfectly with a bouncy indie pop tune that's breezy enough for summer but still packs the depth of production with all those little bells, whistles and handclaps to make it stand out on air. Top notch stuff.
