Bio

Robbie Ho from Hong Kong and Matte Rochford from Dulwich Hill formed Ex-Trendy as a duo in 2009 and were originally part of the (now defunct) space-rock band 'Vaincherry'. The band uses performance-art and theatre techniques in their highly engaging live shows. The sound is psychedelic, a little bit pop and a little bit weird, with some rockier elements. Reuben James Alexander on drums and Michaela Davies on bass joined the band in 2011. Robbie Ho can sing dramatic Cantonese pop songs. He was a finalist at the 2011 Chinese Singing Competition (Sydney) and is influenced by cantopop singers Anita Mui and Lesley Cheung. Matte Rochford's theatrics could be likened to David Byrne from the Talking Heads. The debut EP 'Losing Business' was released in March 2011 and reviewed favourably by Spit Press magazine and Raddest Right Now: http://raddestrightnow.blogspot.com/2011/04/ex-trendy-losing-business.html
