With music, i try to create layers of sound, where every spare moment...second...space there is something happening. It doesnt come out the way i hear it in my head all the time. Also i love to get really drummy sometimes, with layer apon layer of drums... they go bing whack posh
There's a lot of 'things that go PING!' in FasH's music. He started out in a death metal band, but now makes tightly produced industrial electronic music with the right amount of pings, beeps and whacks to grab your attention.
Describe your music
Verdicts out on this one. It can go from slow IDM to drum n bass, to acid jazz... to pink elephants on parade! I don't really have a single genre I stick too, songs just come out the way they do. Oh, but most are drummy.. mmm...drummy.
What inspires you? Who’s been a big musical influence for you
Music inspires me. Hearing what other people have created is a big push for my own creativity. Quirky bits of pop culture helps too, from Gir to Harvey birdman.. to murderface... MURDERFACE!!!! (Metalpocolypse...durh). My cheeky cat lily too, even though she pee's behind the tv! Specifically though, Aphex twin, MSI, Amon tobin and squarepusher have all been big influences on me. But that's just on the electronica side. There's also tori amos, dir en grey, slipknot, phillip glass to name but a few. Music ist good yah?
When did you start making music
Well, I was first placed in front of a piano at the age of 6. But I only really started making music in my late teens, and that was in a death metal band called mortuary!! Since then I've branched out... alot... and found a home within the rather vague genre of electronica.
Right now, what are the biggest challenges facing you when it comes to making music
World of warcraft!!! Damn thing sucks your life away I tells ya! Seriously, trying to duplicate the noises I hear inside my head can be a challenge, aside from the usual whack ping ka-bong!Mostly though, its time. I am rather easily distracted and can go off on a tangent rather easily. Also the little green man called gub gub who lives in my fireplace keeps stealing my stuff!... Curse you, gub gub!
What have you got planned for the future
Working with my band Harlequin. The track "What lies beneath" is actually a backing track to a Harlequin song. That, and to continue to work on my own music. Either that or become a half-dwarf half monkey strip tease artist for the pussycat dolls... I hear they're after a new member...
