Bio

“Unaltered Vol. 1” was written by Chris Rugge on a solo road trip through the dusty South Australian desert in a dilapidated Ford Falcon, and recorded back home in sleepy Leopold. Rugge tracked every instrument on the EP in his bedroom, including swirling organ, bluesy slide guitar, soulful vocals, and even some poorly played flute and cello, forming a motley sonic soup as likely to evoke 20s blues legend Charley Patton as it is The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Deeply personal, scathingly political and unapologetically oddball in equal measures, “Unaltered” lays bare the deepest depths of Rugge’s psyche but somehow leaves the listener less enlightened to its nature than previously they had been.
