Bio

Based in Brisbane, First Beige draws upon jazzy colours, textural synth layers and interwoven vocal harmonies backed by driving house rhythms. The infectious live act presents listeners with an ever-evolving set comprised of extended improvised sections and high energy grooves. The six-piece have continued to solidify themselves as one of the most eclectic, transportive and vibrant live acts to come out of Brisbane in recent years.
Since their inception in 2016, First Beige has come a long way from the bedroom-recording project of founding member David Versace. After two EP’s, two East Coast tours and a QLD Music Award nomination, the band have gone on to support the likes of Australian favourites Winston Surfshirt and Last Dinosaurs as well as cosmic heavy-hitters Mildlife and Harvey Sutherland.
Having made a statement at BIGSOUND Music Festival and Conference 2019, First Beige received high acclaim with Deafen County saying, “judging by the movement in the crowd, everyone is in favour of their funk” and Music is My Muse emphasising, “... First Beige are at their best, evoking growth in a sound that they have seemingly mastered…”
The band have hit the ground running in 2020, receiving praise from Gilles Peterson at a Worldwide FM broadcast show as well as appearing at Brisbane’s Laneway festival, Party In The Paddock, A Festival Called Panama, Nine Lives and Meadow Festival. Following up from their second EP ‘Mirrors’, First Beige are already hard at work in the studio, forever striving to push boundaries and further evolve their sound.

I love everything about this. Classy and cosmic in equal measure. Great playing that doesn't get in the way of the song's feel. So good.

You've got us wrapped in your funky web! If I could choose what song to dream in...this would be it. A never ending boogie.
