If there is one word that best describes the music of Brisbane's Flynn Effect, it would be powerful. Blending the never-fail rock arsenal of a thunderous rhythm section with a wall of guitar, blistering synths and a powerhouse vocalist, the band are capable of reaching an almost impossible velocity.
Surfacing as a live band in August 2014 and releasing their first album Skin just a few months later,Flynn Effect quickly established themselves within their scene as a force to be reckoned with – delivering a refreshing take on alternative rock and a theatrical live show featuring the band’s own self-created automatic lighting system, CO2 and pyrotechnics. Flynn Effect's ambitious live performances have seen the band share the stage with rock and metal royalty, including Lacuna Coil, Wednesday 13, Davey Suicide and Seether, as well as perform alongside local heavyweights Orpheus Omega, Osaka Punch and Darkcell.
The band's second album Obsidian (2017) comes equipped with super-sized hooks and musical nuance alike, switching from one end of the rock spectrum to the other in a heartbeat. Obsidian received rave reviews and took the band around the country for the first time. In 2018, Flynn Effect are embarking on a new journey with the release of their new EP Monument (July 6) and a national tour in its support.
