About
The Fold emerged out of the musical partnership of Matthew Daniel and Chris McCaw, who began to nervously generate their first collaborative sounds sometime around the dawn of time (1998, that is). Both native to Melbourne, but from opposite sides of the tracks, their music was a self-conscious and intricate combination of their different experiences. With the arrival of Nick Tumney on electric bass and Justin Marshall on drums and percussion the group played its first live shows in Melbourne in 2002 and started to sculpt a series of varied songs, that eventually led to the recording of a predominantly melancholy EP 'Never, Again' in the following year. Additional instrumentation was added on the EP by the violinist Alison Blunt, a London native, who (foolishly) invited/dared? the boys to give London a try.
