Bio

Following on from the success of 2018’s EP Coasters and Caravans, Foreign Architects return with a brand new single ‘Old Recipe’ – and they aren’t pulling any punches.
Featuring Mac Demarco-esque guitars along with the musical punch and commentary stylings that wouldn’t be out of place on a Courtney Barnett record, Old Recipe is a pop song that contains a ‘guest vocal’ from someone you might not expect. (But no spoilers here!)
“This was a song we wrote a little while ago and things started to heat up recently with the rhetoric in the media from the usual suspects about protecting our borders etc, it’s the same old lines that often get thrown out by politicians that want to sound tough to win votes, but its at the expense of real people’s lives. We thought fuck it, lets just put it out, we’re artists, we can have our say. As a piece of art we are proud to release this song in the current context as a snapshot of where we are as a society today. Sometimes people don’t really listen to lyrics anyway and I think they’ll enjoy the direction of this song and the sound from our progression as a band, and like anything you make your own meaning from it regardless”. – Matt Burke (singer/guitarist)
The progression of the band continues with the family roots growing even stronger, main members Matt Burke (vocals/guitar), his cousin Andrew Barnett (drums) and guitarist Dylan Geiles, are now joined by Geiles’s own cousin Aaron D’Vauz on bass guitar when the band takes the show live to the stage.

Release: Exclusively on triple j unearthed Monday April 29, all other digital platforms Friday May 3.

It's so cool to see how nicely this project is coming along for Matt & Andrew. These last 2 uploads have been a huge step up and I think this expansion to a 4 piece has really paid off. Keep it up guys, super stoked for ya'll.

This is really fun and different, just like that time Matt got a stool stuck on his head during our community radio interview. You really never know what ya gonna get with these guys!

Tidy little song here, I like the blend of Mac DeMarco looseness with some fuzzy 90's guitar in the chorus.
