Bio

With influences ranging from Son House and Skip James, through to Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones, as well as more contemporary artists like Tom Waits and Nick Cave, Frank Sultana dwells comfortably in this vintage stylistic world, where the song is still king, and nothing beats a great story... His band, the Sinister Kids, are much like a family of transient musicians, and can vary on stage from Frank and a backing singer, to a 9 peice band..At its core, however are 4 talented young artists...From the sultry backing vocals of Jaz Ruggieri, and Alyce Schulte, to the dirty slide guitar, and harp of Lyall Moloney, and the blues rythmn section that is drummer Simon Panucci and bassist Nath Boaden, the Sinister Kids provide a vintage backdrop for Frank's primitive electric guitar tones and soulfull , whiskey drenched voice. Over the last 12 to 18 months, Frank Sultana and the Sinister Kids have been gaining notoriety as an explosive live act, regularly playing some of the best rooms in Sydney and Melbourne, and have been 'discovered' by many a punter, when opening for the likes of the Snowdroppers, Mojo Juju, Brothers Grim, Kira Puru and the Bruise, Graveyard Train, Blackwater Fever and The Fumes amongst others..In 2013 FS & the Sinister Kids have continued to build momentum, picking up the main support slot for Texan blues artist Gary Clark Jnr at his sold out Sydney BDO sideshow, as well as a performance at Brisbane's 'Little Day In' with Brothers Grim and the Toot Toot Toots...watch this space...

I’ve seen this group under many different line-ups over the Sydney traps. Always a great listen. Highlight for me at the Blues and Roots fest. Such talent. Get out and see this group before they take flight, cause it wont be long. Dark and dusty blues with electrifying youth.

The melodic and dramatic sensibilities of Nick Cave, the rhythm and groove of Tom Waits and just a hint of CW Stoneking - but all combined into something much greater. Big fan. Now where's my whiskey..
