Freedom Summers Singer, songwriter, live performance & recording artist. Soul Folk Reggae Freedom began her music career in London, England after moving from Sydney in the mid nineties. She became immersed in the vibrant Brixton reggae scene, meeting interesting and creative artists from many different countries. This unique cultural melting pot inspired exploration of her own cultural roots and artistic expression. African and Reggae music stimulated Freedom and her growing awareness of history from a black cultural viewpoint and launched her own voyage of self discovery and cultural identity. Freedom returned to Australia with a new awareness and sense of purpose, and headed to Darwin. The name ‘Freedom’ was given to her by an Indiginous woman around that time and she began formal studies in music at CDU Darwin leading to a Diploma in music technology.
