About
Since 2016 singer/songwriter Tamara Westwood has been sharing her moody and technical brand of emo pop as <b>Freya</b>, filling rooms with her dreamy and lush live performances. Performing and penning personal and emotional songs in a style she calls "dreamo," (a sort of emo/dream pop hybrid), Freya’s sound makes callbacks to 90s indie and emo staples such as Slowdive, American Football, Ride, Cocteau Twins and Pinback, to name a few. Her drowning, jangly guitars are supported by prominent bass and drum machines varying from hi-fi acoustic samples to lo-fi General MIDI. Lush synths soar above the mix, laying a foundation for Westwood’s layered vocals, desperate and soft, sharing intimacies and life experience, making for direct yet poetic lyrics that are voyeuristic in nature yet still publicly adaptable.
