MELBOURNE’S POST-HARDCORE PARTYBOYS GLADSTONE, RELEASE SOPHOMORE EP ‘COLD BONES’

Described by TheMusic.com as having an “instant and infectious energy”, Melbourne based rockers GLADSTONE have released their highly anticipated second EP ‘COLD BONES’. After being premiered by Josh Merriel on triple j’s Short.Fast.Loud on Wednesday 22nd April, Gladstone are frothing to take their epic anthems to the masses!

Crawling out of the primordial sludge that was mid- 2000’s post hardcore, Gladstone formed in the wake of the death of the only band ever – Alexisonfire. Lucas Chong, Michael Chen, Bob Laughlin, Steve Rogers, and Tyson Venn were inspired by the void left by the Canadian post-hardcore pioneers and have done everything in their power to move and shake the Melbourne music scene to its roots; solidifying a reputation for an explosive and moving live show.
“Gladstone are one of those bands that rise above the rest based on pure talent. Their ability to write great melodic songs that are still heavy and catchy is a rare gift. They’re f*ckin’ legends too.”, Craig Selak (The Bennies)

Just to set the record straight, Gladstone are no one trick pony. Influenced by a wide range of bands and musical styles, their sound continues to shift and evolve, whilst deftly deploying heavy grooves, soaring melodies and incendiary crescendos that drive any audience to a fever pitch of awe inspired madness. COLD BONES is no exception. This five track EP has been expertly put together to take the listener on an aural journey of massive proportions.
“When [Lucas] screams, you want to keep doing whatever you’re doing so he’ll scream at you some more” – Sean Dennison (The Equal Ground)

This perfect mix of professionalism and passion has not only lead to a stellar reputation and an outstanding recording; it has also lead to Gladstone playing alongside some of the bands that they once idolised. This year Gladstone have had the pleasure of supporting The Bennies sold out show at the iconic Corner Hotel, Dance Gavin Dance, and Dallas Frasca at Howler.

While they take their music very seriously, they are very aware that they are livin’ the dream! In the words of Gladstone lyricist Lucas, “At the end of the day, I’m just here to make music, make friends, play shows, and party on Wayne.”
