Bio

Local Melbourne punks Going Swimming have returned with their raucous new single ‘Sunny Trude’ as they announce the upcoming release of their second full length LP, ‘Sultans of Swim’.

Never ones to take themselves too seriously, Going Swimming have returned to their surf-punk roots with this new release, and the title is a tongue-in-cheek acknowledgment of that.

Enlisting the help of Rohan Sforcina (Dune Rats, Gold Class), Ash Briody (Empat Lima, Sugar Fed Leopards) and Joe Carra (King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Eddy Current Suppression Ring), the band recorded at Head Gap studios earlier in the year and the album is set to be released towards the end of 2017, following up from their well-received, blistering debut, ‘Deadtime Stories’.

Sunny Trude sees Going Swimming at their rollicking best, ripping through just over 3 mins of shredded guitar lines, booming bass and tempo-changing, tom-thumping drums. Frontman Nick Leggatt’s voice manically howls and cackles over the top of the track, with the familiar sounds of surfy woos-and-ooos coming from the chorus of backing vocals behind it.

“Sunny Trude kind of sums up what the album is all about”, says Leggatt. “It’s a bit of a fun little love song about pretty girls and getting back into the summer mood. I think we’re all a bit sick of winter, so we’re just keen to crack some beers and get sweaty again.”

i thought sunny trude was a spoonerism at first, turn out it's not. turns out you guys are a bit of alright though, look forward to hearing more from going swimming.
