Bio

Armed with home-designed merch & a DIY-or-die ethos, cousins Kalun Townsend and Jordan Crotty set out to build themselves an outlet to play live, build a community around them & let off some emotional steam.

The vessel for such doings is gold blum, adding two good mates to create a four piece indie-rock group that sounds like the musical identity of their born-and-bred home of the NSW Central Coast - waves of raw energy through their coastal upbringing, but with the songwriting framework demanded of an act that’s situated so close to a major city and determined to make an impact on people’s emotions.

In a smidge over a year, they’ve crafted a blistering live experience through relentless gigging across their home state, a self-produced debut EP and instantly impactful singles that make you think as much as they make you drift with their energetic, but magical, shoegaze sonics.

To kick off 2020, gold blum are ready to step things up a notch. A late 2019 weekend staycation at the famed The Grove Studios with producer Fletcher Matthews (Sweater Curse, CLEWS, Dear Seattle) allowed the band to bring the raucous energy & killer songwriting they’ve been honing to new heights, on February release Tonight.

The song will be accompanied by a music video focusing on the different kinds of communication within relationships of all types, whilst they maintain their commitment to live touring with their most expansive tour yet across the East Coast, beginning with the second annual event of their own DIY festival Eskyfest, with proceeds going to Black Dog Institute.

gold blum are going to use 2020 to become the DIY Australian rock band of your dreams.

If you’ll have them, of course.

Radio ready rocknroll from the cennie coast. We love to hear a guitar band who know how to right a bit of a hit!

it's that same soaring, feel good rock that the vanns and catfish have got people going mad for. that chorus is a real recharge!
