Bio

The wait for new music is over for fans of Melbourne’s Haarlo.

The duo, comprising producer/multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Steer and New Zealand born vocalist Stacey Gardiner (who first came to the public attention when their debut single ‘Easier’ was featured on a MS MR curated mixtape alongside Aluna George and MØ) have re-emerged with the brand new single ‘Love’s Gone.’

‘Love’s Gone’ is three and a half minutes of expertly expressed, sophisticated electronic pop (perhaps unsurprising considering Steer has production credits for Hiatus Kaiyote, Ainslie Wills and Ben Abraham to his name) in which Steer’s crisp production serves to provide an ideal framework for Gardiner’s extraordinary neo-soul tinged vocals.

The single’s release foreshadows a raft of soon-to-be released new material including a sophomore EP and an upcoming collaboration with Cut Snake in 2016.

subtlety in spades, but tbh this is more of a diamond.

Took me a couple of listens but I'm really impressed by this track. It's minimal and discreet in its approach but the whole package really works. Think these guys might've found their winning formula with this tune.

This maybe lacks a bit of energy and punch but is solid for a first effort. The production is nice and low and with some finessing to the vocals I could hear it on some Russian darkwave tumblr.
