Bio

Have/Hold is, was and always will be a rock band in a state of change. At present Have/Hold is comprised of four intently creative people; two hacking away at guitars, one pummelling drums, one terrifying his bass, a few wailing like impassioned evangelists and all responsible for a caterwaul delivered with every fibre of their collective being.

Since forming, Have/Hold has released a 7” double A-side, an EP 'Calm Your Blood' and the culmination of their creative collaboration in 2015’s debut full length album 'King Salt'. These releases were terse, poignant, bombastic and stirringly dynamic, and saw the band exploring lyrical themes for loss, longing, leaving and learning within the seemingly restrictive rubric of guitar based rock music.

Over the course of these halcyon years Have/Hold played dozens and dozens of shows. Cutting their teeth in stalwart institutions such as Old Bar and The Tote soon paved way for several national tours both under their own banner and in support of alternative rock kinsfolk We Lost The Sea, Safe Hands and Sail On! Sail On!. Touring King Salt saw the band leave for the US on a run of shows that included an appearance at Florida’s famed punk and hardcore extravaganza The FEST alongside bands like Pianos Become the Teeth, Title Fight and The Hotelier. With sold out shows supporting La Dispute, Balance & Composure, and Say Anything under their belt the band took time out to reassess their focus and a new creative machine kicked into gear.

With a reinvigorated line up comprised of brothers Luke and Ryan Shields (guitar/keys/vocals and drums respectively), Reece Choucair (bass/vocals) and Liam Davies (Guitar/Vocals), the band weathered the socio-political shit storm that was the past two years the only way they know how, by bunkering down in rooms in various states of disarray to refine their sound. 2016/17 saw Have/Hold release two singles - ‘Stoic’ and ‘The Bells’ - before turning inward in an effort to give their follow up to King Salt the attention it deserves. Now, in 2018 Have/Hold have big plans for huge year of singles, tours, videos, and finally the release of album #2.

That vocal range! Stunning and clear, embracing all moments that make way of this. It's very moving. I love this.

A band you'll never be able to pin down. It's emotional, it's invigorating and it disappears beyond your grasp just like *that*.
