Bio

Hazel Mei is embracing the rich tapestry that is modern music. From the flowering streets of Brisbane, Australia, the songstress is weaving herself a sound of her own, filled with all of her musical loves.

The sweet mastery of The Beatles and Norah Jones swept her off her feet and behind a piano at a very young age. Her passion for music has only grown since then, and when songwriting appeared on the horizon, there was no turning back.

The last year has seen Hazel Mei cultivating her newest body of work, assertively indie with a jazz-tinted underlay. Her 2019 offering It Is(n't) Real was released with much acclaim and is the first of a full EP, coming in 2020.

“Hazel’s latest musing is brave and beautiful in its vulnerability, and sonically comforting with its lulling indie-folk sentimentality.” - Music Is My Muse

From stereo to stage, Hazel Mei captivates her audience. Backed up by her multi-instrumentalist band share intricate arrangements, crafted as the bedding for her seductively smoky vocal performance.

"Music is about claiming the heart and soul of your audience and Hazel Mei did exactly that." - Tracey Moyle, Good Call Live

Hazel's latest offering, 'Fool', has an air of poise and attitude as she explores an empowering way to set free negative self talk.

hazel this is spesh. i love the transformation across the 3.5 minutes to that big ending that swallows you whole. it goes from a quite traditional soulful / jazzy number to something a bit untamed which i dig.
