Bio

Dead as Disco: Melbourne bratwave band Hearts and Rockets release Dead As Disco. the second single off their new double a-side 7” release, which also features recent single Workout. The record is out on limited edition white 7” vinyl on Saturday October 31. Dead As Disco is a spooky, post-punk dance track inspired by late-70s European disco and Donna Summer. It's about dealing with the perils of quickly-found fame and is an ode to 80s game shows and New York's underground.

Workout: Melbourne bratwave band Hearts and Rockets release Workout, the first taste off their new double a-side 7” release featuring Workout and forthcoming single, Dead As Disco. The record is due out on limited edition white 7” vinyl on Saturday October 31.
Hearts and Rockets defy categorisation, but you know there’s going to be a hook and a lot of fun. Workout follows Hearts and Rockets' recent singles Milk Bar and You Don’t Know What You Have Until You’ve Had Enough, and last year’s 14-track LP, Power. Mixed and mastered by Mikey Young, Workout is a fun ode to home workout videos from the ‘80s and ‘90s and will get you bending and stretching before you know it.

Milk Bar: Hearts and Rockets take a trip down the block and down memory lane for their latest single with a dream shopping list at the local milk bar. While the song's all over in a minute and 40 seconds, you'll have the sweet taste of Passiona on your tongue for the rest of the day.

Milk Bar launched with a video clip alongside a live set via Facebook at 7pm Saturday June 20 as part of Leaps and Bounds Music Festival.

Milk Bar follows their recent split 7" with Zig Zag and their 2nd album, Power, which came out on vinyl August 2019. Touching on post-punk, new wave and with a touch of goth, Hearts and Rockets actually write pop songs.

Using 808 drum samples, chorus drenched guitar, crunchy bass, and soaring synths, their call and response vocals will get stuck in your head for life. The duo have had multiple videos played on Rage, as well as countless spins across stations like Triple J Unearthed, Double J, RRR, PBS, RTR, SYN, and album of the week on SYN, EDGE Radio, 4ZZZ and The Breakfast Spread on PBS.

Some recent press:

“The underlying anxiousness of the song is directly reflected by the speedy visuals; a narrative of unrest that details the state of mind of a generation. While the gritty bassline and pacing drum-machines appear to be dark, the empowered punk vocals and constant groove offer an illuminating message – a clarity and strength that comes with knowing you’re not alone.”
- Deafen County / Feelings video premiere

“Short and straight to the point, this new offering from DIY punk sweethearts Hearts and Rockets captures the complexity of human emotion in a fun, dark, 99-second long, twangy bass and drum-machine driven ode to anger, happiness, restlessness, thankfulness, and all other kinds of feelings.”
- Firas Massouh, PBS FM

"Bratty 'tude, belligerent bass, synth punk goodness from Hearts and Rockets"
- Mikey Cahill

“a 99 second blast of frantic post-punk and an invigorating taste of what’s to come.”
- James Lynch, Trouble Juice

Love to hear songwriting like this. Clearly straight from the heart, while also not afraid to tackle the big issues. I think, when it comes down to it, we all want a Passiona. Only some of us are brave enough to admit it.
