Bio

Heavy Beach is the hand crafted creation of Ali E (Damn Terran, Little Athletics, Ali E), Mark Renall (Howl At The Moon) and Clayton Pegus (Spun Rivals). The band started in 2010 as a duo under the name Ferry Tails, playing gigs all over Melbourne before Clayton joined on bass, adding another creative mind between the guitars, a loop pedal and a set of vintage drums. Driven by unconventional song structures and tunings, Heavy Beach create grooves along which an entire song can float, ripping through raucous guitar solos and underpinning songs with fuzzy, melodic bass and potent drums. It’s easy to see why bands such as Dinosaur Jr, Dead Meadow, The Clean and Magic Dirt are on their list of influences—they have harnessed the power of dirty guitars and melody in a way achieved by few in today’s musical landscape. "Lead vocalist Ali Edmonds shreds on the guitar but sings forlorn melodies that juxtapose the group’s instrumentation. She plays the guitar fearlessly, letting the higher notes wail during her solos." —The AU Review

Time to add another worthy act to that nineties revival list, droning guitar riff ace singer and all.

Ali E is practically her own music industry in Melbourne. I hope she gets her own designated ash tray at Midian rehearsal studios. Or better still I hope you have your own jam room because you would be spending so much on rehearsal rooms with that many bands to be in. Heavy Beach - I'm really enjoying you guys. I love a 'sit back on a heavy bass line/chorus-y guitar line' songs. ...

I love a 'sit back on a heavy bass line/chorus-y guitar line' songs. I would love to live next to you guys if you rehearsed all day loudly. And if you live next to a tight arse I see you guys as awesome contrary types that would just play louder.

A fast racing grungy / no wave / shoegazy offering. There is a great thick hazy atmosphere that draws you in from the beginning. At the same time the song is fast and furious with massive energy getting you head banging from start to finish! Everything about this song is awesome!
