Bio

Hedge Fund’s haunted sound walks the line between muscular post-punk grooves and dreamy synth pop, think New Order, Talking Heads and The Cure.

Lead singer Will Colvin is back. He’s stronger, he’s wiser, he’s more talented. But he’s also broken.

Will suffered the devastating loss of his late great father and in the same breath suffered the break up of his marriage.

But this is not why he’s broken. Will invested heavily in the Bitcoin boom of 2017 only to find that in fact when you try and cash in your Bitcoins for real money the bank has some hard questions.

Questions like “why are you wearing Ed Hardy?”, and “what do you reckon's more fun to step on, a thumb tack or a land-mine?”

Will was able to cash out his Bitcoins by playing the bank man his new (soon to be hit) single True Romance, a thrash-funk sallad he wrote during primal scream music therapy.

The song reminded the bank-man of his ex-wife, a woman called Trish, who tragically lost her life accepting an Oscar on behalf of Laurence Fishburne for the 2005 cult hit entitled “my wife is a cold hearted bitch who only loves Bitcoins”.

Audiences everywhere (including Mexico) are raving about True Romance, calling it “the greatest love song since Who Let The Dogs Out”.

Hedge Fund have been played on Triple J (AU), FBi (AU), Californian (US) radio KGEE, KEGR, KXRN, & XTRA, received great support from local and international online outfits as well as local and regional stations, toured the Australian east coast, and supported bands like British India and Dappled Cities.

The song’s video clip, animated entirely by William Colvin over the course of six months, is a beautiful and terrifying homage to his greatest hero: himself.

Previous praise for Hedge Fund:

“The whole post-punk vibe of this track works for me.” Richard Kingsmill (triple J)

“Swag. That bassline. Swag all the way.” Zan Rowe

“With a sound that nods to late 90’s alternative, this band from Sydney are looking to make their mark with airy background synths, a driving bass line and catchy riffs to accompany snappy lyrics — the result is pure enjoyment” The Wild Honey Pie (US)'

“Finding middle ground between the punch of post-punk and easy going psychedelia, it’s a unique, inviting atmosphere, with a totally relatable story to tell. The perfect track for the final days of Australian summer.” Indie Shuffle

‘Rock's answer to crack’ - Barnaby Joyce (federal politics)

Good to hear new music from this band, and they've come back throwing heavy blows. Big, surging rock sound on this.
