Bio

Hideous Sun Demon are a Perth garage rock band who formed in 2013. The band is made up by Vincent Buchanan-Simpson, Jake Suriano and Blake Hart. All of whom play in multiple Perth bands such as Kitchen People, Koi Child and Dream Rimmy. Their first two years of existence saw them become one of the most prominent local bands in the state, winning a local band competition and releasing of their debut EP ‘Meat’ and LP ‘Sweat’ in 2013 and 2014, respectively. The latter received significant community radio play, with the single “Moan For Jesus” reaching #2 in the AMRAP Metropolitan charts. Their sophomore LP “Industry Connections” was released in October 2016 on Pilerats/Warner Records. The singles “Cul-de-Sac Vision” and “Bad Girl” both received national radio play on Triple J, the latter being premiered on NME. During this time the band have developed their national presence; embarking on multiple tours, and supporting prominent garage rock bands like King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Thee Oh Sees and the Murlocs. They have played a number festivals; headlining Camp Doogs in 2014, playing In the Pines and State of the Art in 2015 and Laneway, Big Sound, Electric Goner Boogie and Southbound in 2016. Their performance at Big Sound garnered them a lot of attention, becoming one of the most hyped bands at the festival, and getting a feature in Rolling Stone Magazine. Currently, the band are organising and their own two-night mini-festival in late April, featuring themselves and nearly 20 other local and national bands. They are set to play as one of the feature bands for 2017’s In the Pines Festival, and are heading off on their 4th national tour in July, including dates in New Zealand and headlining mini-festivals in Adelaide and Auckland. With their former label dissolving, the band are now finishing their third and most accomplished LP, coming out on Hell’s Beach Records July 27 2018.

Hideous Sun Demon’s thrashing brand of psych-punk music has returned in all its glory, with the release of their new single, ‘Antithesis’ off their 3rd studio album 'Fame, Erotic, Dream'!
