Hot Wax are vocalist Nicky Swamp, guitarist Jakey Brown, bassist Matthew Gray and drummer Brad “Yogi” Harrison, a group of close friends and musical collaborators who formed in the Gold Coast's famous Kirra Beach at the end of 2017. The band's first track Surfing's Not Cool was delivered with exceptional praise from Triple J's Declan Byrne "are you mind magicians because i definitely think surfing is cool but i was singing along to this raw, droney, punk diss by the halfway mark." The track then went on to the playlist for Home & Hosed. Together they bring elements of their lifestyle alongside a mixed musical background to deliver a sound that is authentically theirs.
