Bio

In late 2019 Sydney-based singer-songwriter Huck Hastings burst back onto the local music scene with a new single (and sound). After a period spent writing ‘Hey Babe?’ and its accompanying music video marked the beginning of a new and invigorating direction for this exciting young songwriter.

2020 saw the release of three new singles from Hastings -‘Soft - An Epilogue’ ‘Anthem For The End of The World’ and ‘It’s Alright/It’s Cool (Commitment Issues)’ as well as the launch of his collaborative lock-down project Hacky Sack.
Of their debut single ‘Exaggerating’ Zan Rowe said:
“This makes me feel like a teenager again, it's summer, my heart is full of crush, and everything feels like a dream. Beautiful.”

His knack for thoughtfully penned, heart on your sleeve indie-pop has garnered him esteem from local radio, over 300k digital streams and features in NME and Frankie Magazine.
He was also featured in FBi’s most 100 played artists of 2020.

Hastings debut album ‘Cheers To Progress’ is out now. It is a deeply vulnerable and self
assured debut offering. An intimate portrait of queer love that explores themes of responsibility, self worth and the art of letting go.

“I wrote this album many times and from many different frames of mind. I’m really interested in how when you stack seemingly mundane moments on top of each other you
create a picture of a time or a life that is deeply rich and nuanced. Those little unimportant moments feel really important to me, particularly with hindsight. I used this album to both hold on to and let go of a period of my life.” - Huck Hastings

Next live performance June 17th - Gasometer Melbourne

Tender hearted delivery and there's even more care taken as Huck constructs this lonesome portrait.

So glad to see a solo artist like Huck Hastings get in on the DIY Supergroup challenge, dipping a hand into the samples and emerging with a grab bag of sounds. It all serves to accentuate Huck's glimmering storytelling.

this song well and truly hucked me up. if 'longing' had a soundtrack, this would be it. a vulnerable, nuanced outpouring of the soul.
