Izatang crept into the Perth music scene early last year playing their high energy fusion of jazz, funk and indie rock in all of Perth’s favourite music nooks and crannies. Before too long they were no longer just playing a standard Tuesday night, they were supporting the likes of Pow! Negro, Carla Geneve and Demon days. Front woman Isla Imogen, hails from the deep south of the beautiful and eclectic Denmark region, where she grew up developing her unique electrifying singing style, which she accompanies with intricate, jazzy guitar playing and a quick wit for good rhymes and captivating storytelling. Upon her pilgrimage to Perth she met local musicians Jacob Mcaneny, Will Renner-Shao, Jack Seah and Josh Chan, who shared her passion for an enigmatic funk riff and a good old unpredictable mid song tempo change. Together Izatang will weave you into their web of hypnotic grooves, stunning toothy smiles and a big sound that’ll have you shaking your booty until the very last note.
