Bio

Don’t be fooled by the name – there’s no Jake nor obvious western theme. A gifted lyric, definable vocal, melodic sound and a passion for performing define Jake and the Cowboys. Since forming in 2010, the Cowboys have been delivering a fresh brand of pop/rock to various venues around the Perth music scene and have earned themselves a strong loyal following.

After receiving an Indigenous Arts Grant via The Department of Culture and Arts, JATC recorded and released their debut EP ‘The Sun and the Rabbit Hole’ in May 2011 to rave reviews in Western Australia and the Eastern States, with the EP now receiving regular airplay over 96fm, RTRfm, Noongar Radio, Qantas and Virgin Inflight Indigenous Radio and both TripleJ and TripleJ unearthed.

With unique life experiences and culture provided from all 4 band members JATC have notched up the following:
- 2012 WAM award nomination for ‘Indigenous Act of the Year’
- Inclusion onto the 2014 Music Feedback CD, inclusion onto the 2012 ‘Home’ (Qld) and KISS MY WAMI cd Compilation with their track ‘Born on the River’
- Winners of the ‘Indigenous Song of the year’ at the 2012 and 2013 WAM Song of the Year Awards for their tracks ‘Crash’ and ‘friends’
- Performances include Beerfest Asia (Singapore June 2015), 2013/2014 Nannup Music Festival, 2013/2014 State of the Art Music Fest, One Movement for Music Festival, WAMi Festival 2011/12/13,The Australasian World Music Expo 2011, BIGsound 2012 and the Queens Aussie BBQ event to a crowd of over 100,000.

Notable supports include The Basics (Gotye - October 2015), Eskimo Joe (November 2014), TroyCasser Daly/Busby Marou (Karratha Naidoc celebration July 2014), Dan Sultan (March 2014), Bonjah (January 2014), Archie Roach choir (April 2013) and Everclear (October 2012) for the Perth leg of their Aussie tour.

May 2015 saw JATC successfully crowdfund their next single 'She Said' within 14 days. Following this success, JATC hit wastelands studio with Producer Joel Quartermain of Eskimo Joe and have created what they hope to be their breakthrough hit. The track was released to a sold out crowd at Jimmy's Den (Northbridge, Perth) on 30.10.15

Some very smart song writing here. Hooks for days! Tidy work from Joel Quartermain on the production too.

A sweet little toe tapper. As the Doctor has made mention the harmonica is a winner as are the handclaps and the celebratory hootin' & Hollerin' at the end.
