James Braithwaite James Braithwaite is an alternative roots singer-songwriter, based in Cairns, Far North Queensland. Creating a buzz in the local music scene through festivals, profile supports and regular gigging, Braithwaite’s work is defined by his deft combination of his native and deep-seated Manchester music scene influences including The Smiths, Doves and The Stone Roses with more contemporary folk and roots elements. Having been attracting strong media attention, and profile live slots including Cairns Blues Fest, Port Douglas’s Carnival, and sharing the stage with Jeff Martin,Passenger,The Panics and Eskimo Joe, he is currently readying his highly anticipated debut EP for release in late 2014. Braithwaite took to performing live while backpacking around the country in 2004, recently after relocating from the UK.
